Hello folks, I want to invite you to the Science Group Pre-Summit Meeting / Workshop. This has become a tradition for the Science Group and our meeting here has been a great part of the ACA Summit and has lead into the activities of the Summit quite well. I have listed the agenda below and invite you to join us!
If you would like to come, just drop me an e-mail note letting me know that you are coming and let me know about lunch (meat or vegetarian) so that I can make arrangements for you. We will cover the lunch and expenses related to the meeting so there are no registration fees for the Science Group Meeting / Workshop, but you will need to register for the Summit if you are attending the Summit (It starts officially at Dinner on Thursday) or if you are attending any workshops on Thursday. We cannot cover your travel or lodging but usually linking the Science Group Meeting /Workshop with the Summit enables you to connect your expenses for the summit and hopefully help you out some.
If you would like to come....answer the below questions and send a note to Mark Lassiter, e-mail: mlassiter@montreat.edu
You will see that in the Agenda, I am asking for folks to bring ideas or projects that they are working on so that we can get interested folks together. There is also a panel discussion - "Future of Small College Science Programs" and I would like to involve you if you want to present an issue. If you would like to be involved in a poster/interchange session at the Science Group meeting, serve on the panel, and / or present an issue for the panel let me know. I will be preparing a web site for the Science Group Meeting / Workshop and posting your project ideas, research ideas, and Science Program issues for us to look over in preparation for the time together on Thursday.
1. Are you coming to the Science Group Meeting / Workshop [ yes or no ]...no registration or fee, just let me know.
2. Are you attending the GIS Hands-On Workshop for the Science Group [ yes or no ] ..no registration or fee, just let me know.
3. Are you attending the Science Group Meeting and also taking in another Pre-Summit workshop-if yes*****
4. Are you attending the Summit starting at dinner on Thursday after the Science Group meeting-yes, I hope!!!****
***If yes, you will need to register for the Summit with the ACA directly, this registration is separate from letting me know that you can come to the Science Group Meeting.
5. Are you eating dinner at the Adelphia Centra but not registered for the Summit - fee is $30
6. Would you like to submit a topic for the panel-Future of Small College Science Programs to discuss?
7. Would you like to be on the panel?
8. Would you like to bring a project description or a project to share with others in the interchange periods?
9. Do you have a novel project that you would like to briefly describe to the Scientists in five minutes in the beginning of the meeting and then be able to follow this up with further interactions with folks at the interchanges during the breaks?
Please get these responses back to me by just pasting your responses into the body of your e-mail.....
