Examines world hunger, human population growth, economic development, energy
use, environmental pollution and biodegradation. Grounded in the sciences,
but interdisciplinary in approach. Emphasizes Christian stewardship, public
policy and individual actions.
NS 371 Seminar in Environmental Studies (2)
Prepares student for internship or environmental field work. Focuses on
issues such as environmental impact assessment and environmental ethics;
emphasizes analysis of current events related to environmental concerns.
EB 307 Environmental Economics (2)
An investigation of the relationships between economic concerns and environmental
problems, from the perspective of Christian stewardship.
SO 335 Social Change and Development (4)
Examines impoverishment of two-thirds of the world, including issues of
social change and continuity, development and underdevelopment in the Third
World. Addresses role of colonialism and imperialism in these processes.
Examines various theories and models for development and modernization
in light of Christian perspective.
