TROPICAL MAYTERM ITINERARY

Below is the itinerary for the Costa Rica and Belize portions of our Tropical Biology Mayterm. Many of the places we are staying will afford access to public phones from which you may can call home. However, no places will allow "charging it to your room", so you must have a calling card or be able to go through ATT collect. At virtually every place we are staying, initiating a call to home is much easier and more appropriate than is receiving a call, since most places are either biological stations with one office phone for a large community, or inexpensive "pensions" without full service front desks. Therefore, incoming numbers are provided for use only in case of serious emergencies. If there is an emergency at home, callers should leave a number at which they can be reached, since it is very unlikely that staff will be able to leave the office and find you in several thousand acres of preseve while the caller is on the line!

There are a few places where we will be sufficiently out in the bush that we will not be directly reachable. These places are indicated by "---". In addition, a couple of places with phone numbers listed (e.g., South Water Caye, or Marenco Biological Reserve), do not have phones on premises, but at an office some distance away. In such cases, one may reach us when we arrive at our next stop with a phone, or leave a message with us through our in-country hosts (* see below).
