One of Dr. Bouma-Prediger's areas of research and publication is
the philosophy and theology of nature and ecological ethics. Recent books
include The Greening of Theology: The Ecological Models of Rosemary Radford
Ruether, Joseph Sittler, and Jurgen Moltmann (Scholars Press, 1995), and,
with Virgina Vroblesky, Assessing the Ark: A Christian Perspective on Nonhuman
Creatures and the Endangered Species Act (Crossroads, 1997). In addition
to this scholarly interest, for many years he led backpacking, canoeing,
and rockclimbing trips professionally. He still leads such trips as part
of a Hope College May Term course he teaches on ecological theology and
ethics in the Adirondacks of upstate New York. He also does research and
writes in the philosophy of religion and philosophical theology. He is a
member of numerous professional societies as well as the Evangelical Enwironmental
Network, and the Christian Environmental Council.
Dr. Bouma-Prediger is married and has three children--Anna Meredythe,
age 8, Chara Christine, age 5, and Sophia Calvert, age 2. His wife Celaine,
also a Hope graduate, is a marriage and family therapist and an ordained
minister in the Reformed Church in America. |
